brainstorming

I am sitting here on December 30 th, only one more day and then we start a New Year. And I am staring at this screen and don’t really know what I would like to write about. There are a few things I can think of, but would that be interesting to you?

My idea was to streamline this whole blog a bit so it wouldn’t be a task but something I enjoy doing. Because I do like writing just not all the time. But I don’t want you to wait for a long time until you get something to read from me again. So I was thinking about giving certain days certain themes to write about. How would you feel about that? And what would you like to read about.

If the answer is not in the poll just leave me a comment and I will be happy about any ideas you bring to me.

Thank you for reading what I have to say and being so loyal.

I wish you a great 2012 !

Jonathan Peacock
CEO, Zibbet.com

This was the newsletter in my inbox this morning. And I am glad to be a part in this wonderful community.

I have learned A LOT!  From advertising, tweeting, promoting, using FB, being more present on the internet and some accounting (big issue for me).

And the BIGGEST plus for me is that I made so many friends. Virtual and in real life. I learned so much from the other shop owners. Passing on their wisdom to me, helped when I had questions, gave me tips. How can you not pay it forward after you got a little securer yourself?

It was fun to see new people coming to Zibbet and opening new stores and help them along the way. There where some wonderful trades to get some shops started with their feedback.

It was/ is exciting to be part of something so wonderful, seeing how it grows and develops and doesn’t lose its way of being.

Yes it is a job and it needs a lot of work to keep your shop going, lot’s of sweat and tears. But in the end it was all worth it to me and I am happy to be part of it for another wonderful round.

I want to thank all the fellow Zibbeteers that made the last year so much richer and so much more interesting. I wish you all the best, hugs! And of course I want to include Jonathan and the whole Zibbet crew, they are one great bunch, you never read a bad word always get a quick answer to your problem. And the question if there is anything else they can do to help!

new years resolution, yes or no?

Did I ever make one? If yes, did I keep it and for how long?

What is a new years resolution :

Wikipedia:

New Year resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to one or more lasting personal goals, projects, or the reforming of ahabit. According to Gretchen Rubin (author of best-seller “The Happiness Project”): “You hit a goal, you achieve a goal. You keep a resolution”.

This lifestyle change is generally interpreted as advantageous. A New Years Resolution is generally a goal someone sets out to accomplish in the coming year. Some examples include resolutions to donate to the poor more often, to become more assertive, or to become moreenvironmentally responsible. A key element to a New Years Resolution that sets it apart from other resolutions is that it is made in anticipation of the New Year, and new beginnings.

There are religious parallels to this secular tradition. During Judaism’s New Year, Rosh Hashanah, through the High Holidays and culminating in Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), one is to reflect upon one’s wrongdoings over the year and both seek and offer forgiveness. People may act similarly during the Christian fasting period of Lent, though the motive behind this holiday is more of sacrifice than of responsibility. The concept, regardless of creed, is to reflect upon self-improvement annually.

I started searching the net for new years resolution and found this worksheet  A quick, step-by-step guide to putting together realistic, achievable, and meaningful resolutions for the coming year. Divided into three sections:

Inventory, Resolutions, and Steps

Is that going to help me to keep my resolution better? I don’t know. I think I do better if I have someone who asks me how I am doing and am I taking the right steps to reach my goal.

First I have to brainstorm to see what my new years resolution will be. I know it will not be loosing weight or eating better. Those things I will work on all the time.

I think this year I have to concentrate more on my relationships with others and also my relationship with myself.

Than I have to think about how I will achieve those goals. Where do I want to be  in a year from now?  How will I keep track of my learning and changing?  Do I reward myself if I reached a certain step and with what?

The big question is ” how do I keep myself motivated and don’t fall back into my old patterns?”

I still have a few days to think about all this and get it all in writing. Hang it up on the wall, for me to see every day. Maybe find some quotes that get me going or find a song that will set my wheels in motion.

Do you set a new years resolution? Do you have troubles to keep it, what do you do to keep on track?

how did this year go by so fast?

wow….only 16 more days and then 2011 will be over.

How did it go by so fast?  So many things happened this year that I had hardly any time to stop and digest any of it, well maybe some but by far not all.

Why does it seem the older we get the faster the year goes by? I remember the feeling when I was about 16 years ” oh boy, still 6 weeks till Summer break, that is an eternity”  Now you turn around tree times and three months are gone by.

When you have kids and your life is all about your kids a family time seems to run through your fingers.

What do you do to slow time down a little and have time to memorize those moments?

I still have some goals on my list I wanted to achieve this year, I guess they will have to wait and I will try to accomplish them next year. So many unexpected things happened this year, that we constantly got thrown off track. Had to reevaluate our plans and goals.

Those where not only negative things that happened, there where a whole bunch of positive unexpected moments this year I am super thankful for.  Sometimes I really wish though I could slow time down just a little bit, to enjoy some moments a little more intense.

I learned so many things this year, I could write a book. I made many new friends online and off-line.  I got the chance to see my Grandma again after 8 years.

I still have so much to learn…. I don’t think that I will do a big bunch the next 16 days. But I will make an effort each and every day in 2012 to learn something new. To cherish the then and now and try to live every moment as intense as possible.
